Q&A (CD Version)
I have FS2004 Century of Flight and want to install my B314. Setup tells me, it can not find a fs2002.cfg file. What shall I do?
For installation please copy your fs2002.cfg into your FS2004 root directory. You can in fact copy any file into your FS2004 root directory and rename it fs2002.cfg. It is only necessary that a file with this name is present. Read more here.
I have installed my B314 into FS2004 Century of Flight. The aircraft (especially the B314A) do not take off. What happens?
We have found, that FS2004 gives the B314 a much more realistic flight model. It marks the "heavyness" of the AC much better, which was in fact the matter in reality. Weather, temperature and load were the most important points for getting airborne. It even cruised at just 500ft until enough fuel was eaten to climb. So for long haul flights you will need to make very carefull flight planning including fuel and payload (which is much better to handle in FS2004 than in FS2002). You will need to unload the aircraft if you want her to climb as in FS2002. Read more here.
I get an error message "A required DLL file MSVBM60.DLL was not found" during SETUP and the scenery is not installed. What is wrong?
You have not installed the VB6 runtime modules. This happes very rarely. Pls download them from here, install them and then reinstall the B314.
Sometimes I can not detach my Beaching Gear by means of the appropriate switch. What is wrong?
a) You have exceeded the speedlimit (30kts) while taxiing on the ground. FS gave you a "Gear damage". This will render the Gear unusable until you restart FS/reload another aircraft.
b) Please load another floatplane first (Cessna Amphibian), then load The Clipper. It should work then.
c) Restart FS2002 and immediately load the Clipper.
I have blurred textures in the outside view and the way you describe in the manual to fix that problem does not work. What can I do?
Please the special support page in that problem.
I have received the CD package. It also has a leaflet saying I should install patches from a floppy before running FS2002. I can not find the floppy in the package.
The floppy is NO MORE NEEDED, when you install SP1 immediately AFTER you have installed B 314 from the CD you have received and BEFORE you first load the B 314 in FS2002. To get SP1, please register here. You will be emailed a confirmation and the download links within 48 hours (usually within minutes!).
Additional clarification on the patch floppy.
Attention: If you have received your CD in a Slim Jewel Case (not in a normal Jewel Case!), all patches available (but NOT yet the SP 1!) are implemented in the setup routine already. You do NOT need a patch floppy.
After uninstalling The Clipper, FS2002 tells me something about not being able to find the scenery layer "B 314 Waterairfields". What shall I do to get rid of that?
Start FS2002, select Scenery Library and delete the layer "Boeing B 314 Waterairfields".
All the instruments on my panel do not move. What is wrong?
Please read the manual! :-) You have to set the AUTOSYN switch on the FE panel to DYNAMOTOR if no engine runs and ALTERNATOR if engine 4 runs. No electricity, no movement ...
Some of them still do not move! What is wrong?
Well, load the Schweizer Sailplane. Then load the B314 again. They will move from then on ... FS2002 "Feature" ... :-) You have to do this only ONCE!
My startup flight is not in normal 2D Cockpit mode with the panel visible (e.g. Virtual Cockpit, Spot- or Tower View). The instruments using the static system (ASI, VSI, ALT, etc) on my panel do not move. What is wrong?
We are currently investigating this problem. For the time being please load the B 314 in normal panel (2D) mode with the panel visible. We recommend to use the "Default Flight" flight saved in the category "Others" as a template. Another solution is to load The Clipper, then load the default FS2k2 Sailplane, reload The Clipper again. Save this status as your Clipper-StartUp flight. On some systems even loading the Sailplane ONCE fixed that problem forever.
My startup flight is in Virtuall Cockpit (VC) mode. I see a yellow sign, telling me, that the license key is missing. What is wrong?
Please load the B 314 in normal panel (2D) mode with the panel visible. We recommend to use the default startup flight saved in the category "Others" as a template.
